Fabric The front of your quilt. Usually 100% cotton, but other fabrics can be used
The middle of the quilt sandwich, usually wool, cotton or polyester. The weight and thickness of batting is measured by its loft. Low loft means a thinner quilt whereas higher loft means more thickness, and is used for a heavier quilt.
Backing - The back of your quilt. The most popular is a 100% cotton, or you can use something warmer like a fleece or flannel fabric. Alternatively, you can use your scrap fabrics left over from the front or other projects.
Binding - A strip of fabric that is folded and then wrapped and sewn along the sides of the quilt to create a border
Make sure you have enough batting and fabric for the front, back and binding for your quilt before starting!
