Why are there joining knots and breaks in my yarn?
When all that wonderful fibre is spun as part of the manufacturing process, sometimes the yarn breaks as it is balled. It's a frustrating find in your yarn, particularly if it happens at a critical part of your project - but it does happen, and we curse when we find a knot, too.
The mills we work with really try to minimise this happening, and the industry has said that anything up to three joins is acceptable - but if you find more than that in one ball, or if you find joins in more than one ball in a purchase, please contact our friendly Smiles customer service team, and they will help.
If you'd like to know more about those pesky joining knots, you can read all about them, and what to do with them, in our handy guide: Why does my yarn have knots in it?
